A few months ago, we launched the powerful new AI Estimating add-on for Cubit Estimating. This release is the next step in bringing you more AI powered tools to speed up your takeoff.
In tandem with the July 2026 release of Cubit Estimating, the AI Estimating module has been refined with a new capability and an improvement to an existing tool, both aimed at reducing manual effort in your takeoff process. And for everyone already on board with early adopter pricing: you’re getting this at no extra cost.
Here’s what’s new.
Where it started
AI Estimating launched with three tools, each designed to reduce the repetitive, manual effort required in a specific facet of takeoff:
- Count Symbols: Rapidly finds and counts symbols on your plans.
- Auto Area: Automatically detects and creates area shapes from your plans.
- Scan Text: Finds and quantifies specific text, numbers, and labels from plans.
Three months in, we’ve been listening, iterating, and building. Customer feedback has helped us refine existing tools, and we’ve been busy expanding what AI Estimating can do, adding new capabilities to help estimators work faster across more areas of their takeoff.
What’s new in this AI Estimating module release
Automatic Plan Scale & Name Detection: Get to work faster from the moment you insert your plans
The time between importing a plan and being ready to takeoff and estimate just got shorter. AI Estimating now automatically detects the specified scale and name of your drawing on insert, so your plans are ready to work with straight away.
For anyone working across multiple plans on a job, having drawings that are immediately identifiable, without relying on file names and page numbers, makes navigating your project noticeably faster.
Improvements to existing tools
Scan Text: More accurate results, greater confidence
Finding and counting text across your plans manually is time-consuming work. Scan Text is built to handle that, and this update makes it more reliable and easier to act on. The underlying recognition has been improved to deliver more accurate results, and the review workflow has been updated so you can validate each result and jump directly to where it appears on your plan, giving you the confidence to turn those results into your estimate without second-guessing them.
More capability, same Early Adopter price
AI Estimating launched only a few months ago, and we’re continuing to enhance and expand. We have more AI-powered tools in development, designed to help you cut down the manual, repetitive work that slows your estimating down.
If you’ve been considering getting started with AI Estimating, this update adds real value to your subscription at no extra cost. The early adopter pricing that was in place at launch is still in place for this release.
